Dr. Greenfield earned his DVM degree at Purdue University in May 2002 and came to work at Hebron Animal Hospital one month later. His involvement with the Exotics Club at Purdue has served him well in caring for ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small mammals here at HAH. Dr. Greenfield holds a special place in his heart for guinea pigs, and he has had one or more as pets for over 30 years.

Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Greenfield grew up in Western New York State, then moved to the Midwest for college at Washington University in St. Louis. He met his wife, Joy, while they both worked as camp counselors during summers while in college. After graduation the Greenfields were married and then came to the Cincinnati area when Dr. Greenfield attended Miami University in Oxford, OH for graduate school in psychology. After a short time, he decided on a career change and began his pursuit of a career in veterinary medicine. He met Dr. Lloyd a short time thereafter and kept in touch through veterinary school at Purdue University, then came to work for Dr. Lloyd at Hebron Animal Hospital after completing his degree.

Professionally, Dr. Greenfield enjoys seeing small exotic pets in addition to cats and dogs, working with clients on behavioral training issues, and doing soft tissue surgery. He feels that client education is very important and works hard to help every client understand the “whys” behind all of the “whats” that we do for their pets.

The Greenfields currently have 5 cats and 3 guinea pigs. “Sunny” was adopted from a client at Hebron after suffering a severe injury that necessitated amputation of one of his front legs. “Scout” and “Serendipity” were abandoned as one-month-old kittens and quickly became favorites of Dr. Greenfields’ kids Alex and Megan. “Sandy” was found as a stray kitten in the summer of 2015, and “Snickers” was adopted to be a playmate for her. The guinea pig trio are “Parfait”, “Butterscotch” and “Tootsie”.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Greenfield spends time volunteering as a Scout leader, with Boy Scouts and American Heritage Girls. He is an active member and instructor with the Cincinnati Curling Club. Dr. Greenfield is a big sports fan, and he enjoys playing softball and previously played competitive miniature golf. He proudly displays his multiple Putt Putt course championship trophies in his office. He enjoys camping and hiking and enjoys vacations in the Smoky Mountains. He is a proponent of protecting the environment, and with his influence, the staff now recycles many items at the clinic that were previously thrown away.
